There was never a moment he wavered. I don’t think there was one split second, one fluttering fraction of a heartbeat that he doubted.
Even Sherlock was shaken by Moriarty’s ruse. I believe there might have been a passing moment or two where he wondered, where he doubted his own sanity. But you can never make me believe John doubted. Not ever. Not for a second. Not even once.
